Summer is almost over but the fishing on the Madison river isn't. We are starting to see some bigger browns getting more active. The river as a whole has been fishing about the same through out the sections. The fish are still eating terrestrials on top but the bigger fish seem to be eating more subsurface presentations. The river temperatures are starting out at about 59 degrees in the morning due to the cooler night time air temperatures and the flows are about average for this time of year. The Fishing on the upper Madison river near Ennis has been great the past few days. The main salmon fly hatch has come and gone but not to worry there are still plenty of bugs out for fish to eat. The fishing this week has been pretty spectacular. we are seeing lots of PMD's in the morning and the caddis are still going strong in the evenings. The Madison river has been fishing great this week. The colder weather we saw the past couple of days really didn't slow the fish down any. The salmon flies are hatching all over the river with the majority for them hatching up above windy point FAS. There are a ton of bugs out right now.
