Jefferson River Fly Fishing
The Jefferson River is the largest of the three forks of the Missouri River with the mouth located near Twin Bridges. The structure of the Jefferson is a large riffle-pool with frequent armored banks. Despite summer dewatering for agricultural irrigation, the Jefferson will sometimes shine on cooler summer days.
Best Time to Fly
With fishing normally better in the spring and fall seasons, shoot for the spring before runoff has started, after runoff and in the fall. The best fishing begins around late August to early September and will last through October.
