Even with the heat we have been seeing the Madison River has hung in there and continues to impress. Nocturnal stone flies are river wide and are producing some really good dry fly fishing in the morning hours. Follow that with a solid may fly hatch and early risers can get some good dry fly fishing almost all morning. The most solid rig to stay bent has been a chubby with some sort of purple may fly trailer. Lots of happy people and fish. Early has been much better than sleeping in so get going early and get off early. I hear the ice cream and milkshakes at the Pharmacy are to die for.
The evening fishing has been good with caddis and attractor fishing. Caddis are still the name of the game in the evening. Prince and little red things are kicking butt and taking names for the bobber lobbers. Think tiny and shiny and run them with no weight. Let your nymphs be free. Concentrate on the bouncy water and you will be rewarded.
The Madison River continues to hang in there get out and float some flies and catch more than just fish.
NOTE: Someone has been taking the receiver pin out of the hitches on trailers in the boat launches. This makes a extremely dangerous situation that has happened to several guides already. Check all hitch pins or better yet get a locking pin. If you know who is doing this let us know as they will be flogged by a gang of angry guides.
