Fishing report for the Madison River 6-17-2017

The Madison River is slowly starting to come back into shape. The fishing will steadily get better as the week goes on with the falling water levels. Nymph fishing is still your best bet for catching fish with streamers and pats rubber legs being the most productive. Some fish have started to eat dries around the town area (mostly caddis) we still haven’t seen any salmon flies yet but I would expect they will make their appearance very soon. The river as a whole will start to fish well with the water levels. The river is still high and swift and the wade options are still a little limited. Valley Garden around town or Three Dallor Bridge area offer you the best wading opportunities at this time.

Dries

caddis mostly in the evenings , no salmon flies yet but….

Nymphs

Pats rubberlegs Black 8-12, Prince nymphs 10-14, San Juan worms 8-10 , Pheasant tails 12-14

Streamers

Sparkle minnows , Sculpin the one , Buggers, Woolhead sculpins will all work
