"We made our reservation for 2020, but was deterred by the Covid virus. John honored our reservation for Three Days, Three Rivers for June, 2021. John made sure our trip was special. He personally guided us on The Big Hole and two sections of the Madison. We had beautiful weather, the challenge of wind and slightly lower water level, but with John’s intimate knowledge of the rivers and extra effort, he put us on fish that made the memories we were looking for. How did I never go here before?

"Iā€™ll be honest, Iā€™m not a fly shop guy. Most shops make me feel uncomfortable or pressured. Maybe itā€™s because before shop guys get to know me a bit they give advice that isnā€™t quite my fishing style. Iā€™m sure itā€™s me, but thereā€™s two shops that Iā€™ve come to love going to and one is the tackle shop. Iā€™ve been fishing the ennis area for about 10 years now and never really went into the tackle shop until recently. Before giving me advice, Riley took the time to understand how I like to fish to tailor advice for me that would be productive but also enjoyable for me. Thereā€™s no gate keeping, no secrets, no pretension or arrogance. I canā€™t express the relief to have a shop on both ends of the Madison now. 10/10 would recommend "

Missouri River Snow Storm

"Great fishing in a Montana spring snowstorm! I was scheduled to fish the Bitterroot River, but rain and snowmelt had drastically raised the river overnight. John Way, owner, outfitter, and guide of The tackle Shop, suggested we fish the Missouri River instead. When we arrived it was snowing dime-sized flakes sideways and the temperature was 30 degrees. We fished for almost 9 hours. My hands were cold, but the fishing was exccellent. I caught 18 to 20 trout 15 inches to 20 inches. John’s knowledge of the river, and his friendly competence made the day enjoyable. "

Fly Fishing with The Tackle Shop

"On 31 July, 2 & 4 August 2017 I fished the Madison River with John Way of The Tackle Shop. My fishing partner Marv joined me. He was 85 years old on 31 July, and has stability problems. John Way was more than helpful in getting Marv into and out of the front seat of the boat. John positioned the boat to place Marv to have optimum position on the river. On all three days Marv brought the first fish to the boat. John Way’s friendliness, and his knowledge of the river and the fish, resulted in an outstanding trip every day. I highly recommend John and the staff at The Tackle Shop. "

Best Experience Ever

"The Tackle shop has an amazing group of guys that do an amazing job of giving us what we wanted in our trip. From the first conversation with Rylie, who helped me set up my trip, to our guide Nate who worked his rear off for us to give us the experience we were looking for. We did the trout bum package and stayed at the Lure Me Inn which was coordinated by the Tackle Shop. Toney at the Lure Me Inn was just as accommodating as the guys at the fly shop. A trip to remember for sure. Caught tons of quality fish and the stay was great. Would recommend to ANYONE!! "
