Fishing Report For The Madison River Montana 4-6-2017

Fishing report for the Madison River Ennis Montana April 6th 2017. The Spring fishing is starting to warm up just like the weather. Be prepared for the mornings to be slow with the best fishing in the afternoons. The fish are still holding in the winter spots, look for slower deeper water. The nymphing game is still the most productive way to catch fish with Midges, skwallas, worms and eggs being the patterns to use. We have seen some fish coming up to eat midges if the wind doesn’t blow them off the water first. With the water temperatures warming look for the skwallas and Blue wings on cloudy days. The fish are still a little sluggish to chase streamers but we have been picking them up on the dead drift.
