Montana Guides Christmas List with Guide Nate Lacombe
Nate has been guiding for us for the past few years. If you were in the store prior to that he spent a season as a full time fly shop employee before his interests changed to guiding. Nate is a awesome fisherman and guide. Originally from the east coast he left college during COVID to live the trout bum lifestyle and never looked back. In the winter Nate works for Big Sky Resort in the terrain park. When he is not shredding on the mountain he is on the river fishing. Literally every day. He might be the guide on our team that spends the most time on the water for fun. With all this experience Nate has some very specific ideas for Christmas gifts. Born out of necessity and experience these ideas fit in most budgets and will apply to any angler looking to make a Montana trip.
The budget item on Nates list is the Dr Slick Cyclone Nippers At only $25 they fit in anyones budget. As Nate says ” They are bomber I ran them every day this season”. Secondly, Nate loves the Orvis Heavyweight Wading Socks at only $44.95 these socks are awesome. “Even though they are heavy weight they are not super bulky” says Nate. They allow circulation in wading boots and lack of circulation is the recipe to cold feet.
Third, Nate is wishing for some new fly line. Especially the Scientific Anglers Amplitude Trout Nate loves to dry fly fish and loves this line for that purpose. ” I run it on all my dry fly rods, with the long taper it caters to the dry fly fisherman but can do it all” says Nate. I had a pair that I lost an am looking for Santa to bring me a new pair”. This is the perfect color for mornings, evenings, or rainy and overcast days. The sunrise silver enhances water during these low light times that are key to catching big fish.
