Fishing Conditions
With good weather on the way for the weekend and the Madison River in great shape now is the time to be on the water. If you can get here this weekend do it. Reports from the river are that everyone is catching fish.
The guys throwing nymphs are definitely doing the best. The standard Madison river spring fare will keep you bent. Try a Rubber leg stone fly in size 8 with a trailer of either a San juan worm, red copper john, egg pattern or midge pattern.
Concentrate on the deeper water with a green color. If you not hitting the bottom every few casts put on some lead.
The streamer guys are getting into the game as well. We have reports that throwing sparkle minnows with a slow retrieve will find some great fish. Keep at it and you will be rewarded.
We are just starting to see hatches of blue winged olives. The fish are more keyed on the nymphs right now so try a soft hackle P- tail. If you see some adults and some fish eating them try a standard Parachute BWO in a size 14. These hatch best in the clouds so pray for some overcast. The Best fishing has been in the afternoon
