The Madison river has been fishing great this week. The colder weather we saw the past couple of days really didn’t slow the fish down any. The salmon flies are hatching all over the river with the majority for them hatching up above windy point FAS. There are a ton of bugs out right now. We are seeing PMD’s in the mornings, salmon flies with a mixing of golden stones and yellow sallies in the afternoon. The caddis hatch in the evening has been pretty spectacular. The mornings are still a little slow with the dry fly so some nymphing can improve your catch numbers. If you are going to get out and fish this weekend I would suggest fishing a dry dropper rig in the morning then a stonefly and caddis the rest of the day.
