Good Fishing Continues to Roll Along
This spring has just been amazing on the Madison River. Really good fishing, low clear water and plenty of solitude. It just does not get any better than this. With the pulse of cooler and more spring like weather we should see good fishing for the next few weeks. Worms, eggs, caddis, BWO and stone fly stuff will keep you bent all day long.
Caddis
The famed Mothers Day Caddis hatch is just getting going. Below the lake the fish are in full caddis mode. Risers in the clouds and evenings and emergers during the day. The upper above Ennis Lake is just getting going with the hatch. Swing emerges mid day and look for the token risers in the evening. This will only get better once we see another warm up. Till then stay sub surface until you see a few heads.
Streamers
The streamer bite is just getting going with some of our guides having good success. We like the olive and white combo for streamers. Think sculpin patterns, dali lamas and the like. Keep them low in the water column and with a twitch. Now is the time and we expect to see some very large fish caught on streamers in the next few weeks. Get the 7 wt out and now is your time. We have been doing best with floating lines and smaller sized streamers. The big triple articulated made famous by fishing personalities are not doing it for us. Think the same pattern in size 8 and you will hook up twice as much. Come on in and check out the updated streamer display just in time for streamer season.
The next few weeks on the Madison River are going to be great. If you can get here now you will find some awesome fishing. It might just be the best fishing of the season right now. Get it while you can.
