Fishing Report for the Madison River 1-12-18

This week we have seen some warmer weather here in Ennis. The Madison river remains clear of ice and access is still pretty manageable. Some boat ramps are clear right now but this could change with weather. Varney, Eight mile, Burnt tree and Town ramps were all accessible this week making a town float possible. Wade anglers have been fishing below Ennis lake and having some luck. The section between Hebgen and Quake lake has been fishing well also. For those of you that strive to catch a fish each month of the year this could be your chance.

Dries

Look for midges on warmer days that there isn’t much wind.

Nymphs

keep it simple. zebra midges, lighting bugs, worms, pats rubber legs and egg patterns work well.

Streamers

Wolley buggers, Trevor sculpins and sparkle minnows in white and black. I like to dead drift them this time of year
