Fishing on the Madison has been nothing short of excellent. Terrestrials are everywhere, we are even having a hard time keeping them out of the shop. Fishing a double dry setup has been the ticket as of late. Throwing a hopper with an ant behind it has been very successful with large fish willingly eating both. Throwing a caddis behind a hopper has also been working well. Our guides have not been running nymphs lately because the dry fly fishing has been too good; however, we are sure that throwing a flash prince and a lightning bug would pick up fish as well. If you are going to throw streamers you have to commit to it. Dead drifting them down the bank has worked well, but if you want to strip streamers pick a pattern and stick to it. You may not hook a lot of fish, but the fish you do get shots at will be of good size. As always stop in the shop for the best and most up to date recommendations on the river.
