The fishing on the Madison River continues to be really good. As long as we keep the summer weather and no hard frosts the hopper and ant bite will stay strong. When this will come to an end nobody knows but lets enjoy it while it lasts. Hoppers and ants are the name of the game. They have been moving over to more ants the last few days. Not sure if there is less hoppers around or if they are getting wise that every third hopper they eat has a hook in it. Either way they are more than happy to eat the ant. Still the best fishing has been the afternoon for the dry fly bite. If you fish in the morning we have been getting a few big ones trolling a streamer and a bead head. Sculpin stuff and sparkle minnows are the streamers of choice.
This is a great time to get out and fish the Madison River. The full scale streamer season is coming but lest enjoy a little more hopper fishing before it is all over. Lots of great sales going on in the store. Come stock up on flies, waders, rods, and lines all on sale. Stop by for the latests good bugs and the coffee and friendly advice are always free.
