Dear Friends,

June has arrived and the promise of a new summer is here.  While officially summer does not start until June 21 with the summer solstice. Here in the cultural epicenter of trout for Montana, summer is well underway.

Old friends are arriving for their summer in paradise, new friends are coming into the shop daily. The general buzz on Main Street has increased a few decibels.   Lower Ennis, or how we refer to it as the Guide Ghetto, is full of used pick ups and drift boats.  Life is as it should be.

A great season with lots of cool water, great fishing, and fun is ahead of us.  We are eagerly looking forward to the salmon fly hatch.  Many of the calls to the shop this time of year are asking the same thing.  When will the salmon flies be hatching and what will the water be like?  A great question that we do not have a firm answer to.  Our epic winter and late spring have left plenty of snow in the high country to come out and flow down our rivers.  How this all shakes out and when the big bugs will arrive is still a mystery.   That’s what makes it so fun.

All the cool new flies and gear are arriving daily.  The shop guys are busy adding it to inventory.   Stop by and give them a reason to stop and talk and not tag product.  I am sure they will welcome the interruption.

We have added a few new vendors for this season. One of which are the great lines from Scientific Anglers.   We were given the opportunity to test a few of their lines on our guide rods last summer and were impressed.    We are sure you will be equally impressed.

Orvis Podcast
We were asked to be on the Orvis Fly Fishing Podcast this past month with Tom Rosenbauer.  The topic was fishing the salmon fly hatch in Montana.  Some great information even if we sound a little dorky.
