Fishing on the Madison River continues to be great. While the big orange bugs have started to fade out the fishing remains fantastic. The big question the past few weeks are the afternoon possum pounders of thunder storms. About 3 pm we have seen some real good ones. The forecast going forward looks a bunch drier and that might just be a good thing. While we appreciate the green of the valley this late in the summer we need a little heat to remind us what summer is really like.
Going forward goldens, yellow sallies, caddis and PMD are on the menu. Lots of them. Not sure if it is the good water, the dam being fixed for a second year in a row but, there are tons of bugs out there and happy fish. Floating caddis like stuff will get it done mid afternoon on. In the morning throw a stone fly dry with dropper. Like streamers? Yup you can catch them doing that. Like to watch a bobber and rack up a number count? Do that as well. Lots of options right now. Everyone is happy, happy, happy on the Madison River.
