Madison River Fishing Report 6-2-18

Okay Folks here is the skinny on the Madison River conditions. Right now the river is running pretty high but it has leveled off this week and we are expecting the water to start going back down to more fishable levels. You still can’t get under the bridges below Lyons but the river has been fishing really well above Lyons in the wade only section. The Madison here in town is still muddy but we will start to see the banks clearing up hopefully this week. Most fish will be pushed to the sides of the river in the slowest water they can find. Anglers should concentrate there fishing to the first couple feet off the bank. We are still a couple weeks away from seeing the big bugs but big pats rubber legs have been working extremely well. Fishing the high water coming out of runoff can be difficult be it can also be very rewarding . Fishing bigger flies that the fish can see is really what can make a successful day think big black streamers and nymphs along with hot pink worms. Good luck and stay safe out there the water is still big.

Dries

Elk hair caddis, Purple haze, Para BWO, will work if you can find rising fish

Nymphs

Pats Rubber legs, Mega princes, Wire worms, Hare ears , Chartreuse Mop fly, make sure to weight them heavy so they get down to the fish.

Streamers

Sparkle Minnows, Trevor sculpins, Sex dungeons, Sculpin “the One”, big Woolly Buggers
