Madison River Fishing Report 2-1-19

The Madison river near Ennis was flowing slush free this morning. It looks like Saturday might be a great day to get out and fish. The boat ramps from Varney to Valley garden are all accessible. Fish will be holding in the slower deeper water.

Madison River Fishing Report 1-25-19

The Madison river near Ennis has been pretty slushy the past couple of days. This weekend looks like the thermometer might reach into the low 40's. If this happens the river will clear up and could possibly give anglers a chance to wet a line. Fish will be holding in the deepest slowest water you can find and if you find one there will likely be more in that spot.

As I sit here and eat what’s left of the Halloween candy I can’t help but wonder what now. November can be a hard month for the trout angler. It seems too early to hang up the waders and hibernate next to the fire. But on the cold days afield you can’t help but feel like someone at a party that has over stayed their welcome. November still has some fishing to offer and with most of the outdoor force looking to fill their freezers one can find plenty of solitude on the water. The key to fishing in November is planning.
